Schiller American Heritage Big Mini Tuba 4 Valve Rotary BBb

Hello everybody!

Has anyone played this BBb tuba? I'm guessing that it is a new incarnation of the Eb\F Jinbao-made instrument… but I'm prepared to be corrected. Does it compare favourably with the Wessex BBb tornister tuba? I haven't actually played any of these instruments, so I am coming from a position of total ignorance... Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Martin

It's the same as the Bb/C "Tenor Tuba" Wessex and a few others used to sell. It plays in the euphonium range.

I have one, which seems to probably be sold.(I got a bass trombone.) The intonation requires active attention in the C configuration. With the Bb slide it plays fine. It's a copy of a Cerveny instrument that I have never seen in real life, but you can find it on their web site.

Thank you both for the info. I had my suspicions… and it is good to have them confirmed before I was tempted to go for a 'bargain' mini tuba. I'll save a few more pennies and hold out for one of the Wessex ones.

Many thanks once again.
