To all you guys for sharing your information freely with a completely uninitiated person like myself.
This last June we were fortunate to tour the manufacturing place of Gebr. Alexander (Alexander Brothers) in Mainz, Germany.
I did not take any pictures, I figures it would be rude to do so while folks are on their job. It was amazing to see.
My son can do an internship next year with them. Good thing, too, he broke the trigger off his trombone...causing us to gift him with his first soldering kit.
It's fun to read between the line when the master craftsman tells you 'oh, lacquer is optional, one step less for us' but then sounds like he is mildly annoyed that the product of his shop looks like drift goods from a flood, as the customer preferred the untreated metal
Spend yesterday there:

But I think there is no recording and replay device that can do this assembly justice. You just got to be there, see the aprox. 2200 strong marching band perform.
Thanks again for all you help.
