Lookinng for a Besson 981 S lead pipe

I got a John Packer Fletcher cut EEb tuba. I would like to have the lead pipe changed out to the Besson 981 S style. Would anyone have a used Besson lead pipe that you would be willing to part with. I'm looking for something like the attached picture shows.

Thanks

John

Isn’t this a commercially available spare part?

No, but unless a used leadpipe had special qualities, or were the only option, I would never use anything but a new leadpipe as a replacement. Especially with yellow brass the leadpipe is vulnerable to red rot.

Hope this helps. The "new" (German) 981 uses the Fletcher leadpipe, the 982 'concert" model uses a slightly smaller tapered lead pipe. I would think that everyone would want the fletcher pipe but James Gourlay likes the 982 for brass band. I have a parts list available on .pdf and will send it if you pm me.

Hi your post does not say why you want to change the lead pipe I am assuming that it is either ergonomics or you think it will change your sound.
As the happy owner of the same tuba and having access to a Besson 981 I dont think you will be able to drop a besson leadpipe onto your tuba with out having to modify the lead pipe.

If it was me I would visit one the sponsors who sell this tuba and try one with the lead pipe you are after before modifying the tuba.

If a visit is not practical contact them to see if they can get you the leadpipe.
