I plan on covering my tuba where my hands tend to be to protect the finish from my sweat.
I was wondering if anyone could give me an insight about using vegetable leather on a lacquered tuba. I haven't heard much about this type of leather so i am afraid of doing more damage than protecting it.

here is a picture from one of the members from tubenet, any help will be appreciated with this :tuba:

Lets flip the question... I use a guard bot because of the finish, but because the finish is already gone, and brass allergies cause a rash on my right arm when I sweat. The guard is there to prevent that.

So if the finish is already gone, is there any real risk? Mine are some.sort of synthetic material with the gauze backing.

I appreciate the help guys, it was mainly for where I sweat, but I'll probably make a guard for that area when the lacquer is gone.
