I think they are similar, but not the same. I just compared my Faxx 18 (a perfect copy of the Bach 18) to one of my Kelly 18's. The Kelly 18 is slightly bigger inside than a real Bach 18, or Faxx 18. And the outside is even more different between them

I'm waiting for iiipopes to chime in about the Blessing 18 being the most perfect Bach 18 copy.

One or two very respected legit players rumored to have played the Bach 18 mouthpiece for more than a short while - Abe Torchinsky, maybe Ron Bishop?

Yeah, I have one of those, and a Marcinkiewicz H1, and I don't think they're really a match made in heaven. On the other hand, it gets along with a lot of stuff - even my Schilke-Helleberg, and I haven't been very happy with that on other tubas. Last night I thought my Kellyberg sounded pretty good on it.

A tuba is a great place to put a tuba mouthpiece, that's my opinion.

Past that, I would go out on a limb and guess that there's a lot of similarity between various models in that King lineage, particularly that the valve section is on the small side, and the leadpipe is about the same length, etc. So I'd be similarly optimistic about the performance of an ordinary tuba mouthpiece. I can't honestly say for sure if mine's a 1240 - as far as I know, they don't stamp the model number on them, and I forget the difference if there even is a difference.
