red rot??

Hi everybody I was cleaning my tuba before my lesson and discovered quite a few red and green spots and discolorations.. this instrument is only 5 years old (frankenhorn) since it's new birth...It is a prototype.I guess it was never finished its a shame it could be a great looking horn Like some of his others....I'm new to this.. I'm not a pro and don't know much could anyone help me?

My opinion -- it looks like a bit of lacquer wear and a bit of surface corrosion, not red rot. Seems like normal wear and signs of aging for a raw brass tuba. It should clean up pretty easily, and is not a major concern.

... wherein someone mentioned "acid bleed." Which was also discussed in
this other "is it red rot" thread, with a nice picture of something folks seem to agree is acid bleed
... though my impression is this is more likely to be pictured next to a solder joint.
I've noticed a lot of red corrosion on some tuba models, the one that comes to mind is the Olds 099. Maybe something to do with the brass they use, but more likely the lacquer? I don't remember ever seeing pink rust on my unlacquered Cerveny or effectively delacquered Orsi stuff.
