What can you tell me about the tuba parts to:
Cheetham Scherzo
Husa Divertimento
Mauer Three Pieces
Basler Yankee Doodle
C or F tuba? Hard licks? Anything else worth knowing?
Thanks in advance!

Hugely helpful, thank you both! I have really excelled as a dolt in the past, but am hoping that the group will attempt the hero approach. Either way, I'll be prepared!

I went to Youtube and found a performance of what was listed as Three Pieces by Ludwig Maurer. I recognized them as 3 movements from a larger set I have played, works nicely arranged by Edward Tarr, starting with something of an overture, called "Morgenmusik." Some nice little pop-up solos in the tuba (or bass trombone) part; overall it demands to be played with nuance and musicality or else neither you nor the audience will have much fun. I have played them on (small) CC and Eb pretty much interchangeably. Worst thing you could do (other than play unmusically), would be to make it too heavy. Nothing to add re the Cheetham, haven't played the others or else the memory of playing them didn't stick.
