MW 2000 mouthpiece receiver... Integral?

Hi folks:
I've been told a lot (and verrified some) about the mouthpiece receiver on the Meinl Weston 2000. Well, I own one now, and it's time to fit a mouthpiece, but nothing ever made ever fits.
1) It seams to be larger than the typical Euro shank; if so, what the hell was designed to go in there?!?
2) If not, there's a terrible rumor going around that, much like ancient tubas of yore (Alex, older Miraphones, etc.) the leadpipe goes all the way through the receiver. It doesn't look like that's the case (from outside and in, and feeling with a poker), but I don't want to apply a torch and end up with "NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!"
Anything anyone knows for sure would be appreciated
I want to fit my Alex 78 to it (ream out the receiver a bit) but... if id doesn't come off, I'll stick with what I use now.
