SSH in brass?

An old teacher had me try a Stainless Steel Mouthpiece called an SSH last year. I really liked something about the mouthpiece but also was not sure about something about the steel feel or sound either. It was hard to explain. A friend recently told me that he had played an SSH that was made in brass that a former student of Don Harry at Eastman had shown him. Apparently professor Harry recommended it highly and it gives a warm full sound. Does anyone know where these can be found? I have looked in all of the online stores.

Paul Sidey is the maker, as you'll see in Bloke's post. He has recently run some pieces in brass. I don't know if any are still available, but if you're interested, contact him

WMUTubagirl,

The Sidey Classic is a silver plated brass mouthpiece I offered a few years ago as an exact silver plated brass version of the SSH Classic mouthpiece which is constructed in stainless steel.

Both are based on a 1930s type Helleberg, the rim, funnel depth, throat and width are exactly the same as the SSH "original" and "classic" stainless models and has a much flatter rim with more bite than anything else still out there. The brass version was a small run for purists wanting the advantage of a truer to original Helleberg with larger Inner diameter, more open throat, and flatter rim with more bite in a brass mouthpiece. I originally made a few batches to satisfy all the requests that I had back then and I have not offered any for perhaps five or six years now.

I have been taking discounted pre-orders for a new batch of these. These pre-orders will be filled at the end of November and December. Hopefully I will have the rest of the stainless line back up to full stock in early 2015 and will have advertising sponsorship back on Tubenet when things are ready to roll..

Tony coaxed me into a very limited run of a brass version of the SSH-II in silver plate as well so I'll have a couple of those very soon too. If you are interested, message me or check.. http://www.sshmouthpieces.com/" target="_blank to pre-order
