Free Music for Your Holiday Quartet/Quintet Gig

I'm offering free downloads of a couple of "seasonal favorites" in swing/jazz style. One is for tuba quartet and the other is for brass quintet.

After years of holiday gigs, I got tired of playing (and hearing) Jingle Bells in 2-4 so I wrote a swing version for brass quintet. Of course I called it Swingle Bells instead of you-know-what-that-I'm-so-tired-of-hearing.

Ding Dong Merrily on High was another carol that seemed to lend itself to swing and this free version is for tuba quartet. Of course I changed the title to Swing Swing Merrily on High.

These arrangements are both intended as music for a gig. I tried to make them imminently playable by good players trying to last through another 2 hour gig. Nothing to trip up a couple of subs either. Key signatures might challenge some folks but they are fun to play and really not that difficult. Best of all... they're free!

There are demo sound files and you can download the PDF parts here.

Enjoy!

Good ideas!

Try taking a look at the ending of the horn part.

Alex, now that the horn part is fine, you will learn about the Danish saying

Mere vil have mere,

which roughly translates to

The one, who gets a lot, wants more.

I relayed your link to my own Facebook wall and to a Facebook group of mostly British tubists, before I remembered your parts being in bass clef. Any chance you could provide treble clef parts?

Yes, what a great idea. A link for treble clef parts should be up later today... and thanks twice now.

I hope that everyone will take advantage of this Christmas gift from Alex. I have played MANY of his interesting and clever tuba quartet arrangements over the years. They are ALWAYS fun and very playable!! Buy the non-free ones also! Add them to your Christmas book. They could make you highly sought after during the Christmas season, add jobs to your calendar, and ultimately make you independently wealthy!! Well, it could happen! Good Stuff!

Rich, you overflow with magnanimous praise! I can't vouch for making anyone independently wealthy but a variety of music styles help sell the gig.

Thanks.
