Today, after 'Snowmageddon' and an injury during the storm, I limped down to Greyhound and got my new silver Wisemann 900 4 piston/1 rotor 5/4 CC tuba sent up here by Tom from MACK. It is just like others have said--a truly amazing tuba built as good as ANY tuba made anywhere!
The pitch is dead on-only note is F in the staff-just need to pull the 1st slide. Slots great, low range to high range is so even & consistant. Pistons are like glass. This, IMHO, is not just a 'clone' of a B&S PT-6P. I have never played any B&S PT-6P Or PT-6 rotary as good as this horn. As someone I was talking to who owns one said: 'It is like an extension of a Baer Horn.' I think of this tuba as 'Baer 6450 Light!' This is really one great instrument! Worth the wait. It could sell for twice as much as still be a deal-it's that good. Go try some....
If anyone comes through Buffalo during the Holidays and wants to check it out, give me a shout.

Had mine 10 months now.great horn.i can always tell when I'm satisfied with a horn by how much time I spend looking/lusting after them.near zero for c tubas right now.f tubas are on my mind however... Wish wisemann would do a petrushka clone.

Congrats! Any negative aspects to the tuba?

Hi-
Still too new--but I see nothing but positive. The mouthpiece that came with it is just a plain Jane mthpce and the 'semi' hard case I wouldn't want to fly with--the only negatives I see of 'the package.' The horn itself-A++.

Mackatucci PT6 on your signature is funny...

I'll give credit to Tom at MB and Jonathan and Andy at Wessex... They are making the quality standards of the Chinese stencil instruments much better. I'm proud of my horn as well and had I been able to drop another $3,000, I would have considered the PT6 clone.

Although not as seasoned as many on this forum, I had the pleasure to perform Die Meistersinger with a local University Orchestra on my 900 last night and the Tuba Gods were smiling down as I rocked that treacherous passage up to the high E as well as executing a decent lip trill off the A just after. Thanks to Tom McGrady for his YouTube segment on preparing this piece and for this wonderful horn!

What do you think of the 410?

Though not asked directly, I think the CC 410 'Miraclones' are fantastic 4/4 tubas, especially the newer ones. They keep getting better & better. The intonation is incredible. If you have both a 410 and a Wisemann, you'll have 2 great CC tubas that are easy to play & have a great sound...

A bit of deviation from this thread and something which has been covered in many other past posts but from this amateur's perspective whether from Mack, Wessex, T.E.,or Schiller via Laabs, the Jinbao 186 5V clone is a terrific value for the money. Mack seems to have the best price and I like Tom's style and enjoy giving him the business. Both Mack and Wessex have a presence on this forum and both stand behind their products 100% so either is a great choice if considering this horn.

As an American, do I wish we could make these in the USA somehow for a similar price so we wouldn't be supporting the Chinese economy, you bet. Do I give a crap about what others think about the brand and origin of my instrument, nope. If I had unlimited funds would I buy a rotary German horn like a Rudy or Miraphone, why not!

As today is Thanksgiving, I'm thankful to have a day job that allows me to afford my small collection of horns and the only thing I would change about my 410 is to someday get the valves vented.

I,out of necessity ,had a miraclone as my only tuba for around a year.none of my employers or colleagues ever complained or even noticed.i did not love low a or a flat,but I suspect that is a German not Chinese issue.

My Wessex Miraclone isn't perfect and I do also feel the Ab isn't the greatest (the Gb on my old BBb Miraphone was similar and the high Gb was very tough to articulate without a bump). Overall, great horn for a great price! I can't wait to see what becomes of the 900 based on what has been said about it. Maybe Wessex has thoughts on an orchestral grand CC horn??

For the record, I never cared for the PT 6P. In fact the ones I played, I thought were horrible. My large orchestral horn was a great Thor tweaked by Matt Walters. I played the demo model of Tom's Wisemann and bought it. Thor is history, never thought I'd get rid of the Thor either.

That little BMB C is a corker- very easy to play, super responsive, fun to play,...
