Triggers for YEB-321?

Hi!

A while back ago I bought an old, but very little used Yamaha YEB-321 (Eb, 4 top pistons, not compensated) for a good price. I have been playing occasionally on it and come to realise I really kind of like it, but would like to have some triggers or system built to make it possible to tune the low register down to the pedals.

I've been searching for ideas on a possible custom build, and found this thread as one source of inspiration. This is a nice one, and probably an affordable solution: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=54416" target="_blank

I'm am hoping it would be possible to build one of those "squeezable" triggers with springs pulling it back up and holding it in place - or two of them - for the first and third slide, and throwing on some amado water keys. A main tuning slide trigger would be a bit of a problem, since the tuning slide on this horn is really short, and there's a bend in the pipe above it... I've booked a doctor's appointment for the tuba in a few weeks and will of course talk in through with the techs, possibly NOT doing anything about it, but I thought it would be nice to hear if there's some thoughts about this around here!

Regards,
Martin

Can't do it.
Pull all the slides on your horn, and it still won't get down to a centered low E.
I could show you the math, but it's best that you research it yourself.

If I remember correctly, Wes Jacobs had a l.h. operated 5th valve added to his 321. Flat whole step, piston valve, and I don't recall whether it was dependent or not. Probably not. That was a long time ago...
