These three new tubas were designed primarily for the European market, but US players may have some interest. It's difficult to tell exactly what these instruments offer the player compared to other Miraphone offerings. Improvements! That and a new 5/4 size instrument.
The 481 Elektra F tuba is the same in all published dimensions as the 181 Bel Canto F tuba. 19.6-21.2mm bore, 420mm bell, 960mm tall. The price is identical to a 181 6 valve model. Six valves are standard on the 481.
The 5/4 BBb model 496 Hagen has a 21.2mm straight bore, 450mm bell, and is 1 meter tall. It looks to me like a model 289 BBb body with a larger bore and more normal looking valve section and a smaller bell flare. Pricing of the 496 Hagen is the same as the 289. Four rotary valves are standard. This is a larger instrument than the 191/1291, and is a true 5/4 size.
The 6/4 BBb model 497 Hagen has a straight 21.2mm bore, a 480mm bell and is 1 meter tall. This is very similar in dimensions to the Siegfried BBb tuba. The 497 bell is 20mm smaller in diameter. Four valves, rather than 5 as on the Siegfried, are standard. Pricing should be a bit less (@$500+/-?) than the Siegfried. Read: also expensive.
