For a rotary Neptune, I'm thinking of having G&W make me a Sass m.p. in titanium with Euroshank - an expensive proposition. Because the Neptune is a big beast with less than flawless intonation (I've got tuning jiggers), it works best with a bit smaller m.p. The one that I have that works the best, so far, is a Laskey 28 G(eib) in Euroshank. However, the tone is a tad brighter than I usually like. I have a G&W Baer (old style) in titanium, but with a standard shank. It gets a sound that's almost too dark (almost). It doesn't fit ideally, and it's a bit difficult to control and play in tune at softer dynamics. It's just fine when blowing fortissimo. I'm thinking the Sass might do the trick. Any input welcome.

I have a Sass that I use mostly with my F, but I have occasionally plugged it into the Rudy (5/4 CC). (Mostly when I need to knock down a wall or something.) It has an enormous presence in the CC, but tends to be more cutting and seems louder than any other MPC I use. It may not actually be louder, but the effect is there - maybe more higher overtones? Surprisingly, it does work, it just doesn't blend well with most (any?) of my ensembles. Tends to stick out - even from very large (80+ brass band) groups. If I were doing a solo with regimental band accompaniment, it would work fine. It does have a un-expectedly good bottom range. E-mail me if you'd like more discussion.
