Can anyone tell me which movement of Mahler's 5th symphony the second excerpt on the tuba portion is? I am trying to figure out the correct tempo to play it and the only information it gives is basically Tempo 1. Any help is appreciated!

The best way to get your tempo is to listen to a few recordings while studying these. Not only will you get the tempo, which will vary from one conductor to another but you will get the style as well. Listen and play along is a good approach.

Thank you! I was planning on listening to it, but I didn't know which movement it was from. Sound advice though.

Make sure to thoroughly study the tuba part for Mahler 4.

Or listen to the entire piece. Not gonna kill you to learn a Mahler symphony.

Beyond 'finding out what this music is', I would encourage incredible attention to detail regarding the markings in the music...and not just so-as you are heeding them, but so-as someone listening to you will actually hear everything that you are heeding."
Yep.

In the meantime, half-note = 96 is a good tempo for this excerpt.
