Question: what is the 'width' of a Miraphone CC 1291/2?

Post by bisontuba »

Hi-
A quick question to owners of Miraphone CC 1291/2 tubas. What is the 'width' of your horn---right in the middle of your horn from side to side across the piston valve section? Thanks!

When I practice later today, I'll get you that measurement. I'll update this post with the info.

Cheers

Hi Mark,

Can you tell me specifically how to measure it, from what point to what point? Front of tuba or back?

I got a measurement of about 17.5 inches from left to right in the middle of the valve block.

Hi-
That's what I needed-not front to back but side to side along valve block-many thanks!

Well, by laying a tape measure across the tuba on top of the middle of the valve block (between the 2nd and 3rd valves) and trying to eye the tape lining up with the outer edge of the bell stack and across to the opposite outer edge, I get approx. 17.5 in. also. It's not an exact measurement, but it's maybe what you want.
