Looking for two excerpts

Post by pjdicris »

In the past, I know people have passed around excerpts (not full parts) of Tippet Symphony 4 and John Williams' Reivers. Please PM me if you have either and would like to share.

I don't have either but i have played Tippits 4th while at NEC. This is a ball buster and a great piece to study rhythm . I do remember that the whole french horn section had a part similar to the tuba part and played it rhythm incorrectly. The conductor never picked up on it.

Good luck when you find it as it will open your eyes.

I don't have the parts but have a recording of The Rievers. It has a significant tuba solo. Are you doing the version with the narrator?

Not parts to the Tippett, but noticed that someone has uploaded portions to YouTube of the CSO playing at fig. 78 and fig. 100. I was surprised to see that there are NO VIEWS. There's other portions there as well.

My orchestra wanted to perform The Reivers at one of our summer concerts. The conductor contacted one of John Williams people and was told that the music is not published and is only available if John Williams is hired to conduct.
