best/easiest way to sell tuba

Happy New Year!
I'm new to this.
I have a new tuba and new euphonium.
I don't want to keep my old tuba (and need the $$ to pay for my obsession).
What's the best and easiest way to sell a tuba?
On line? To a store? Ebay? Amazon? Craigslist?
If I don't use something like ebay, how do I handle hostage exchange -- goods for money?
Thanks for your consideration.

I only sell here and on Craigslist now. I've stopped selling on ebay just because of a dispute over my description that led to a bunch of emails complaining that I misrepresented the item and owed him money...he left negative feedback and I went back to just buying.

I've never had any trouble selling here or on craigslist. Just get ready for scammers on craiglist. They are always the first ones to contact me anytime I list something!

It only took me a week to sell mine on CL. Not really many tubas out there on the market compared to other instruments. Supply/demand can work in your favor!

I don't know where you live, but you can post a CL listing in not only your area but also major cities around. I sold a boat on CL in a half hour because I posted it to the Atlanta list which is two hours away. People have no problem driving to buy something rare that they want, like a cheap sailboat or a tuba.

I've just listed on eBay and asked the potential buys to contact me first.

Wonder why?

I would stick to CL and here. It's always better for the buyer to see an item in person than try to assess an item from pictures. I list large items on ebay as local pickup only so the piece gets more exposure to the masses. If it's something they really want they will drive a few hours to get it. Good luck!

Mark's got it...

Danger is that someone might bid - it's a risk.

Didn't see an answer to this so: Cash only, meet in a public place if you have personal safety concerns.

Also FWIW I use both fleabay and CL. I prefer CL for lack of fees and no expectation of shipping. OTOH local pickup only on CL or ebay limits your market. For me the ebay price is always higher to cover those fees and the hassle of packaging and shipping.

I will only sell things here or trade in at a respectable store. Deals here are pretty safe, but try to know who you are dealing with first and do your homework.

How to sell quickly? Price it at least $500 less than a "normal" price. Money talks around here.
