On Dec. 26, David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, announced 95 new appointments to the Order of Canada.
Established in 1967, the Order of Canada recognizes outstanding achievement, dedication to the community and service to the nation in all sectors of Canadian society. This year's list includes nine Canadians from a wide array of musical disciplines, from pop to opera.
Below are the nine new members chosen for their accomplishments in music, along with the citation from the Governor General's office.
