I'm speculating that the backplate is probably not as precise as it should be. That's not that surprising when you think of the QC that existed in Western Europe.

My josef lidl bass trumpet as a similar issue.

Larger bumpers will fix it.

I bought one just like this a while back and was dissappointed that the head is too long to go around much of a bend. For the money... I may try to take the head apart and enclose it in something flexible or shorter.

nice work Mark... I just purchased the 5.4mm, 5M scope from dreamsky, and hope to look down some of my insturments very soon.
