The subject says it all. Is there a good Helleberg copy that's inexpensive other than the Kelleyberg? I need it more like the original narrow-ish design. It needs to be available in Euroshank. Thanks.

The mouthpieces that Richard Barth includes with the Big Mouth Brass tubas should fit your need. They're a copy of an original helleberg in Euro shank. He doesn't sell them online, but he's sold me a couple in the past when I contacted him. I don't know his standard prices, but I recall them being less than the silver-plated kellybergs.

Good luck.

+1 for the Barth Helleberg!

How sharp is the rim on the Barth hellebergs?

(I find that the slightly more rounded rim of the Kellyberg seems to work better for many people)

Fairly sharp?

To my face, it's sharper than the Kellybergs and the Houser Modified Helleberg rims. Not as sharp as the Sidey Hellebergs, nor the Houser Helleberg rims.

I bought 3 of the Barth Hellebergs and all 3 felt a little different. I kept the one that felt best. It's not what I use everyday, but I do keep it around as it's a very good representation of the narrower, deep Original Hellebergs. It does fit the affordable, Euro-shank Helleberg description, which are hard to find without dropping $125 or more.

Hope this helps.
