This site has what appears to be a description of Big Carl's origins. Does anyone here understand enough German toconfirm this ?

If you refer to the longer article posted on that site, it's a mixture of information about big tubas and the history of Bohland & Fuchs and their (then) actual tubas.

PS: I hope you don't want me to translate the whole article!

I think this site says that Adolphe Saxe's BBBb saxhorn is/was(?) kept at Selmer company HQ in Paris.
I have seen a mention of the EEb version, which is said to be at the Musical Instrument Museum in Brussels
(There is a likely-looking tuba in their (world class) catalog, but its key and dimensions are not listed.)
