Bobo Symphonic vs GW Bayamo -- comparison of extremes

These MPs couldn't be more different. Of similar width, the Bayamo is cavernous and the Bobo quite shallow, yet the Bobo permits great access to the cash register. Seemingly equal, if not better in my case to the Bayamo with less work. It also permits a beautiful sound much like a deeper piece on my 5/4 horn. How is this possible with such a shallow MP? With all the choices out there these days, do any players use the Bobo Symphonic with their 5/4 and 6/4 horns for orchestral work?

I think everyone's experience can vary greatly. I use the Bayamo on my 5/4 BBb (B&S GR55) and find it really clean, articulate and incredibly responsive. To me it's a great match and I love the feel on my face. I had originally been going to a smaller mouthpiece when playing more active and higher passages on the horn, but since have used the Bayamo exclusively, preferring the sound the combination produces. Choose what responds well for you, produces the sound you emulate, and be happy.

Thanks for these perspectives and the experience behind each. I recently purchased a Stofer Geib on EBay and it's on the way. I never considered using a specific MP for a certain piece and have to admit that the Bayamo certainly lights up the basement for Finlandia!
