1940-41 school year.
I'm just gonna sit back and watch the attempts to ID the tuba. It was long gone 20 years later.

Except the tuba in the photo has a detachable bell, (the collar and adjustment screw is visible). Did King make them that way this early on?

A friend on mine had a tuba that looked like this. It was a Conn BBb.
No idea what model.
The cues I see are the close to 90* (right angle) recording bell and
smallish bell diameter compared to the large body.
