I'm just a curious soul... What are the dimensions of a Hirsbrunner 6/4 York copy CC bell? Length, width of bell, circumference of the end that attaches to the bottom bow, etc.
Thanks in advance!
I wouldn't be doing it any time soon, but I'm curious if it would be possible to put a larger bell on my HB-2 to make it more like a 5/4 to make it a bit more at home in the orchestral setting without removing the classic Hirsbrunner sound. Everything about the horn says 5/4, except for the bell. The outer bows on it are huge!

I can not give you all the information you ask for, but for your information there is also a Hirsbrunner HBS 550 that is between the 4/4CC and the 6/4CC, and has a bell diameter of 480mm.michael_glenn wrote:I'm just a curious soul... No idea whether or not that bell could fit a HB-2, but I would guess NOT...
Good luck.

Re: YorkBrunner Bell Dimensions
I've owned an HB2 and the outer bows were 4/4 sized. Has something changed in the last 30 years since I bought mine?michael_glenn wrote:I'm curious if it would be possible to put a larger bell on my HB-2 to make it more like a 5/4 to make it a bit more at home in the orchestral setting without removing the classic Hirsbrunner sound. Regardless: their York copy bell rim diameter is 50cm and the throat is MUCH larger than would fit on any HB2 I've ever seen.
