I meant to do this months ago, but darn have I been busy. All I have to say is wow. I got the horn because as a lot of the frequent tubenetters know I sold my Willson, because I'm going through a period of downsizing, anyways.

The 410 Plays so great, I mean the color, intonation, it feels like it's built to last, and it responds well. All over the horn, super high, super low, and mid register, I mean this puppy sings. I'm currently working on the Old Grumbly Bear with my Community Band and it's a joy to play this horn whenever I'm soloing, or just tooting in the back.

I've played horns worth nearly $30,000 and this one is just as fun to play. The only problem I had, and thinking back on it, I'm sure all brand new rotary valve horns are like this, but I had to oil and work the rotars in, after a few weeks they were working great, and that was the end of that, me being a piston valve player it was just brand new territory for me.

I really love the warmth the horn produces. I went with the Rose Brass Bell, one reason for sound because Tom told me it would be warmer, and also because I've never owned anything but silver, and I wanted a new metal, rather than something I'd went with before.

My opinion, if you're just a hobbyist, which is what I've become, get yourself one of these today, they are great instruments, for next to nothing. Also, if you're a Sophomore or Junior in High School, this is the perfect starter CC, because you don't have to work hard to play this sucker in tune, it's point and shoot.

Great horns, great value, I do agree though the rotors are on the firm side. I've had my TU-200 for over two years and they are a tad firm. I clean the instrument twice a year and oil bi-weekly.

If this was CONSUMER REPORTS magazine and they were rating the 410 CC 'Miraclones'-whether BBC/JZ, Dillon, Mack, Schiller, Tuba Exchange, TubaMM, Wessex, etc.---these horns would receive a 'BEST BUY' rating.... really excellent intonation. Fine tubas to say the least...

The information I read here will help. I am nervous about buying this tuba, but I hope it will be a good decision.

I just bought a 410 with a gold brass bell in February. EXCELLENT horn! It definitely gives the horn a darker, fuller tone. I love using it for small ensemble and solo work. I really want to get the 5/4 in a few years for bigger orchestral and wind ensemble settings though. The 410 just doesn't quite have the "umph" I want for that big of a group.

Fascinating! I just read some stuff on the internet that said people can't tell the difference in a blind test among the different materials. This experience you had is great to know about. I think I will use this tuba as a starting tuba and when I know more about what I want to do, I will sell it. I was going to get the gold bell one but I decided to stay with the yellow brass bell and save a hundred bucks.

Yes , Our 410 CC is a winner ,, M&M Tuba has them in Silver , If you are in the SE of US come on down to FL and test out the Tubas

FYI. They're even better after you get Bloke to workout the rotors. It plays like a dream, if only it was bigger.

Having bought a yellow brass Mack 410 CC one year ago, what are these modifications? I'm very happy with the horn, how can I make it better?

These horns are very good for the money. They play in tune, and they don't sound bad. It would be nice if they were more durable, but for the price, they can't really be beat. They aren't exactly my cup of tea, but then again I'm not the hugest fan of the Miraphone 186. That being said, its still a very good tuba. Just not for me. I prefer my Hirsbrunner.

The problems with the jimbao 410 are not Chinese,they are German,for the most part.i will eventually have a goldbrass bell one for a quintet tuba.

Chinese tubas remind me of students copying answers for a test... you don't realize they cheated because of the correct answers, but because of the incorrect answers.
