Hey guys,

I need your help identifying a trumpet. None of the common sites are any help and evidently there are some knock offs in this brand.

On the top side of the bell the is a flowery cursive font "F". Below that in block font is "BESSON". On the 2nd valve tube is the serial number 342100 (which is outside the rage on other sites) It is gold tone. Came in the original case with a brass plate with the same logo on it.

Just a guess, based only on the 3rd valve ring, the bell engraving and the blow-molded case: It's a student-level horn, likely made in the U.S. by Kanstul. The bell engraving matches some higher-end Bessons that Kanstul made. Knock-offs typically carried the name, "Bessons."

I believe this to be a Besson made in either China or India. Kanstul or Buffet would have done a much better job on the bell stamp. I'm 98% sure.

Now that you mention it ... that engraving doesn't look the best. Dana, lack of a "U.S.A." somewhere, maybe on the valve cluster, would be a big clue. If it does say U.S.A., then it's probably by Kanstul.
