Anyone on the forum play the New York edition of the B&S PT6 p (3198) CC tuba?
Can't find any information on this model.
What modifications were made, if any, to the NY edition.
How does it compare to the PT6 rotary?
Thanks

Oh man, I remember playing one of those back at the 2008 ITEC in Cincinnati. At the time, I liked the way it played better than the "normal" PT-6P. I thought it was the best of the 5/4 CCs at the conference.
If I recall, the "NY Edition" was based on the mods Alan Baer did to his own PT-6P. I think it had a different tuning slide and longer 4th valve slide. The leadpipe may have been different, too--I don't remember.
I haven't seen one of these since then, so it may have just been a prototype that never saw production.

In addition to the slide mods I believe these horns also shipped with the PVAK.
All very sensible no-nonsense mods. Nothing earth shattering.
It shouldn't make a difference but the few Baer modded PT6Ps I've played have been notably nicer horns than my experience with the factory versions. No idea why that should be true.
