I just wanted to stop by and say thank you very much to everyone that took their time to share their vast experince and knowledge with me over the past 4 months.
In my search to purchase a euphonium for my self I came to realize that I knew really nothing about what was available or how to even separate the various levels of manfacturing quality.
I put out many posts and you people were very generous with you time, experience and knowledge. I greatly appreciate it !
I made my descision and bought a Weril H980. I have had it now for 5 days and am loving it . I wanted the Yamaha 321 but as you know they are not readily available . So I went with the next best thing.
I will be watching closely as you guide Euphoniumdude through his search for a mouthpice . I am also in the market for a better one then the one that came with the horn. A large shanlk 61/2 Al .
Thanks to all for the helping an Old Band Nerd make a 25 year old dream come true . I finally own a decent horn !!
Thank you all very much

I learned to play F tuba on one of those older B&S F's and much prefer my Perantucci version. Same basic horn, just better in tune and a bigger sound.bloke wrote:"who remembers, in the very late 1970's when the (now classic and unequaled) pre-Perantucci and pre-Meinl-ownership B&S F-tubas first hit the U.S., folks referring to the 'workmanship' of those instruments as somewhat questionable, when (in reality) it was premium - as were/are the playing characteristics"
I would not be surprised if KU still owns that horn and passes it around the students.

I played a Denis Wick 3.5 when I had my Weril 980. The mpc that comes with it is pretty stiff. If you can't decide anything else, try the ol' standard Schilke 51D or a 52.
Enjoy the horn - you made a good choice. And for the record, I found the sound and valves to be nicer on the Weril than on the Yamaha 321 that cost twice as much.

He's more conservative than Bloomberg, but by his own definition he's not conservative, but rather a traditionalist.bloke wrote:Is it accurate? If so, he appears to be about as "kunsarvative" as New York's Mayor Bloomberg...
I keep confusing him with Pat Buchanan.
