Unfortunately my days of playing the tuba have been replaced by evenings playing woodwinds for theater. (Blasphemy, I know!) As as result, my tuba sits unused - so I think it's time to part with it. I'm trying to get an idea of a price to shoot for. I recently saw some listings here for another VMI 2310 at $4,000. I'm wondering if I should shoot for a bit more than that due to it's silver plating. The B&S 3103-S appears to be the currently available version of this tuba (identical, except for a 1" larger bell) and lists new at Woodwind and Brasswind for $9,459 for the silver plated option.

It's in excellent condition, a few hairline scratches in the plating from use, a couple of tiny "dings" on the left side (opposite the bell), and a small manufacturing defect on the backside of the bell just above mouthpiece level, appears to have been a speck of dust on the horn when it was plated. I bought it brand new in 2003, and was concerned the plating could flake off around that defect, but 12 years later there is still no change to the tiny spot. (Roughly the size of the ball of a ball-point pen).

So, just trying to hone in on a good starting asking price before I make an official for-sale listing. When I get it polished up for pictures, I'll post some here to show it's condition to help in it's valuation. Located in the St. Louis area.
