You are correct about the Weil. It has several workmanship issues . I will list the for you :
A. Three of the five tuning slides don't match perfectly and
are a little difficult to replace when I pull them out to empty
water. The other two are fine.
B. The finished is flawed. There are little spiderweb like
scratches on some of the horn. It seems like mostly in the
areas where the horn is in contact with linning of the case.
C. It has a little ping on one of the tubes. Very small really. I
thought this was a new horn. HMMMM
D. It has two "blemishes" on it.
F. I started to get a rattleing noise the other might when I was
practicing. It was the first chance I had to really open her up
and really belt out on the horn. The bell viberated in a
way I have never experienced a bell do and then the rattle
started . Got any ideas what that is ?
So anyway at this point I think any sane and rational brass playing human being whith any good sense would have been sayin " I am think this crap back to The Tuba Exchange and getting my money back !!!" But I am finding it hard to do . Why? you say .
Becase it is a ......... BAD *** HORN !!!
I really love it's sound . Maybe it's because I have never played a really good horn for more then a few minutes and I am just inexperinced but I am rally having a hard time turning this thing in.
Monday night in concert band I had the pleasure of sitting next to one really good player on a Yamaha 321 and an excellent college kid on a Willson and I think this horn held it's own.Even with little ol'e me playing.
What do you think guys. Should I keep it or should I ask for another one. What does Rick Denny, bloke, elimia, woodshedding and all you other pro's think .I'd like to hear from you.[/b]
