I've seen several replies from people saying they've had their vavles vented, and I have no idea what it is.
What is venting? What are the pros of doing it?
Question about valves

Re: Question about valves
A vented valve prevents a compression 'pop' when you pull the slide on that tuning circuit. It's just an air path for the tuning circuit when the valve is at rest. Everything is closed when the piston is pressed.
Some say that venting also improves slurring but I've not noticed that much. Unless you are a 'slide puller', venting doesn't seem necessary to me.
My Miraphone 1291 5V had all four pistons vented when I bought it. I think in some cases... college students just think it's a cool thing to do.
Both pistons and rotors can be vented.
