Found a Great Tuba Shipping Box

Post by ParLawGod »

For those of you looking, I found a GREAT box for shipping tubas!

http://www.uhaul.com/MovingSupplies/Box ... ox?id=6560" target="_blank" target="_blank

It is a "grand wardrobe" box (24x21x48). Granted what I am shipping is a 7/8 size horn (an Olds O-99), I had plenty of room left over - I'm fairly certain this would fit something like a Miraphone 186 (or like size).

What is particularly beneficial (in my opinion) is the metal bar. I asked the store for a second one and bent it to fit the 21" side as well. I always get spooked about the box getting crushed and wrinkling the bell, so the worries should be put to rest.

Just thought some of you might have interest in this...not bad for $12!

+1 I received a tuba in one of these boxes last month. The metal bar really helps to protect the horn!

How did you affix the second bar? Pictures would be helpful.
