Ahhh, my favorite subject. I just had all four wisdom teeth out about a month and a half ago, if you do a search for this topic there are many great ideas/opinions/experiences.
My personal experience now that it is over is: I was much more concerned than I needed to be. After being assured by the oral surgeon that none of the teeth were close to my nerves (your situation will obviously be different from mine) I had him go ahead and do it. After the surgery I took a week off (at his advice) and then slowly got myself back into playing. I was very lucky to have no complications during the whole deal, but you definitely want to be careful of a "dry Socket" which I have heard can be extremely painful as well as delay the whole healing process.
The best advice: Talk to your dentist/oral surgeon and get their advice, and then follow it.
As far as my playing is concerned I actually have been more comfortable playing. Dont know if it is audible to others, but I also feel like it is easier to get a nice big air flow going now that there is more room in my oral cavity (all four of my teeth were fully erupted and causing some major crowding)
Best of luck to you!!!

The biggest thing I can say is take a break from your horn. Maybe even two to three weeks. My doctor told me to stay away from playing for four to six weeks. I started again after about two weeks, and nearly blew the blood clots out of the sockets, which is what causes dry socket. So I had to stop playing for about another week until they healed. Other than that the surgery isn't too bad, and for me it really wasn't too painful.
