B&S Neptune in silver?

Post by bort »

Title says it all... just curious, did B&S ever make any Neptune tubas in silver? Or all in lacquered brass?

Thanks! :tuba:

I always thought that the gold tinted lacquer on the Neptune was one of the Neptune's "things" that was supposed to be special. I've never seen or heard of a silver one though I suppose it is entirely possible a few are out there.

Go down to bottom and it gives all options for the Neptune. Silver is an option.

That's what made me curious as well... if it's a misprint or if they actually built any in silver. Completely inconsequential to me, I'm just curious.

If they're willing to make this... I'm sure there's a silver one out there somewhere.

Is that a factory job? The lacquer spots are curious... Although if that's not a factory job, it's amazingly clean!

Not sure, but I believe I had an old catalog that said it was an option. Argh, to have a silver rotary one... And I don't even prefer silver tubas that much!

IIRC, one of those left-hand rotors is for a quint valve.

I don't remember who the owner of this Neptune is who originally posted the photo.
