Apparently, the archived version will include longer interview segments with Gene, Floyd, and Rex. During the broadcast, they were limited in the amount of time and had to cut some of the interviews a little short. The archives should have longer versions of the interviews, which were quite interesting, in addition to the fabulous music.

As a side note, I remember hearing Gene do the RVW live and felt the hall did not do him any favors as some of the finer details got lost. The recording seems to confirm that point because the mics picked up much more detail and nuance in his performance. I'm still not sold on the work being performed on a Contrabass tuba, and will need to listen a few more times to get more comfortable with some of the changes Gene made, but came away with a much more favorable view of the performance after hearing the radio broadcast, as compared with hearing it live.

CSO had donor appreciation night and Gene gave a recital and answered questions; I think the tribute is ongoing. The way Gene played, he needs to own tribute too. His programming and presentation are every bit as good as his sound and skills. His sense of humor makes a tuba player especially proud.
