What CC tuba is best?

I am in the market for a CC tuba and need a little guidance. I am looking between four different instruments, a Jupiter XO 1284, a B and S PT-3P, a Yamaha YCB-822, and a BE995. I would be purchasing all in silver finish. The Yamaha is for sale at about $5,500 and comes with a case. It is virtually new and is from a reputable tuba dealer. I have heard some bad things about the Yamaha and Jupiter and the B and S seems a bit pricy so I was wondering what some advice would be.

Before this is possibly bombarded with "ask your teacher",

If I were you, depending on your budget, I would find a great used horn (any of those brands) on the forums and then save what's left of your money for whatever you would like (an F tuba even). 99% of the horns sold on here are sold with cases.

Unless if it's outside of the "zone", all productions of a horn series have its bad horns, it's ok horns and the great horns (a hit and a miss basically). Don't get caught up with the bad feedback you get about a horn model. No two horns are the same.

And, I wouldn't limit myself to just silver plated. A tuba is a tuba. I understand if you like silver playing but it isn't going to play better just because it's silver plated.

Good luck with your search

In that price range, you should seriously consider the Eastman designed by Matt Walters.
There is a very lengthy thread about it, and it is roughly the same size as the instruments you suggested.
