It's a hot, boring summer night, so I'm curious... in terms of tubas, how would you answer that question? I'll go first, because two things came up recently that made me re-evaluate.

1) I told myself I would never buy a tuba made somewhere other than Germany or America, but I did it anyway.
2) I told myself I would never buy another silver-plated tuba, but I did it anyway.

I told myself I would never play another stainless steel mouthpiece after trying and finding the Baer MMVI not to my liking, but I'm playing on Blokepiece stainless steel now.

I had a rotary F. After hating the low register, I said I would never get a rotary F again. What am I looking for now? To trade my piston F for a rotary F tuba.

I feel like an idiot: During some 20 years I have bought a couple of cheap but brand new horns – and usually had big problems with them – now all of them have been repaired and sold (yep, really very cheaply). I have always been dreaming of German or Swiss or on old classic American made tuba. But still now I have a cheap CC tuba which I bought as new. Odd…. :oops:

I promised myself I was done aquiring tubas. Well, four more showed up at my door. How could I turn them away, they just need a little fixing up. With now ten tubas or sousaphones around, my wife has a good case for sainthood.
