Anyone else played Spiriti by Thomas Doss?

Hi
Anyone else played Spiriti by Thomas Doss? I would love to hear a pro play the Bb bass part. It has semi quaver runs at a tempo of more crotchet equals 130 in the pedal range. Plus Demi semi quaver runs at a brisk tempo.

The passing decades have dimmed my memory somewhat, but that looks like the British Brass Band dialect.
Treat them gently, they're a long way from home.

Patrase,
I wouldn't necessarily presume most pros would play that part better than an excellent amateur 'brass bander' really.

It's the Albert Hall test piece this year, so I'll be getting to grips with it in September. I'll post the part when I get it if anyone is interested?

We are playing it at the NSW state band championships, but we won't be as good as your band Andy. It's a great piece

I have not played it myself but I wish I had. One of my favourite pieces for brass band (being a nerd I actually like the new style contest music!).

Hi All,
We played 'Spiriti' last weekend at the Royal Albert Hall in London, at the National Championships. My Band (Brighouse and Rastrick) came a very close 2nd, was top English band and qualified for the European championships. Many people commented on a great bass section which was nice.
There's a live recording here:

Composers don't always write things that are 'feasible'. I recall in a Rodney Newton piece a sixtuplet whole-tone scale from low g (GGG) down to pedal g (GGGG), in the span of one beat, at quarter note equalling 144.

Dude, that's a purposeful/strong "ghost"!

I was in the hall and had a great time. Listened to a load of bands which is a rarity! Andy and the Briggus chaps were phenomenal. (One of your Eb players had a certain trombonesque quality? Heh heh). I loved DKs reading as usual. Cory were tremendous and I don't think their win can be argued with *too* much. I also thought Fodens might feature but that's contesting...
Andy, did you get that Cerveny Bb yet?

Hi Andy- what a fantastic performance! Great Bass sound too. We placed first but there were only 4 bands and we were not at your standard. We had Dean Morley join us - what a player. The band is at a loss in regards to choosing a piece for nationals, nothing else seems as exciting as Spiriti.
Cheers
Richard

Ta Peach, and no, no Cerveny. Too much trouble to bother with! If the offer is still there when the factory purchase goes through, I may.

Well done Richard! And Dean is a good mate, and monster player!
