Hey guys, anyone remember the guy who was going to make valve cover beanies for the back of the valve caps to keep spit from spilling out the back of pistons? I heard from him in April but got side-tracked and lost his info. Can't find it anywhere. Any leads?
Thanks,

I'd also be interested in hearing about this and how well they work.

Well this isn't the "spit-beanies" you're looking for but something that might work. For an in-line 4v euphonium (YEP-321) this poster came up with a pretty neat solution by using a piece of tube sock and stretching it over the bottom 4 valve caps. Here's a link with pics:

Grime Gutter for YEP 321

If you go to pg-2, someone else found rubber caps for chair legs of the right size. Then drilled a small hole in the side to vent.

I asked about this a while back regarding my sousaphone. The water and spit was making a mess of my shirts. Klaus suggested using a sock over the bottom of the valve cluster. I tried it and I've been using one since. I use the short, ankle high, black sweat sock. I alternate using it and cleaning it with the other sock in the pair. It works great! Thanks Klaus!

One more reason rotary valves are better!

+1
I read that thread too and it works fine for me.

On my Besson I have something like this, but made of plastic. No idea where I got it.

Chris did you find that contact, or, have you found a solution other than the sock deal?

If you didn't, do an image search on "grime gutter" and see if you can the the one he had...
