Sight-reading Practice for Marine Band Audition

I own a TON of sheet music, method books, excerpts (band and orchestra), etc. Most all of the standard ones and then some....

I need to work on my sight-reading chops for the upcoming Marine Band audition, but there's not much that I currently own that I haven't already seen. I know I can get a lot out of just reading through what I already own, but I would like some more music that I could truly "sight"-read.

I've been away from my horn somewhat over the last several years and haven't really purchased a whole lot of new music over the last 10 years.

Finally, my questions:

1. For those of you who have been through the Marine Band audition before, what did you use to prepare for the sight-reading component?

2. What was the nature of the sight-reading: how many?, how difficult?, all band excerpts?, etc...

3. Are there any "kick your butt" method books that have come out in the last 10 years (or prior to that) that you would would recommend purchasing?

Thanks!

try a website called http://www.bandmusicpdf.org" target="_blank" target="_blank

You can read the parts off your screen, or print them as you see fit. Google "petrucci" and you will get another library of PDF music. Last but not least google NY Phil archives and you can read parts (search for a composer and select "parts" for a limiter and viola! you are reading the parts. If that isn't enough, PM me, I'll find something :tuba:
