For the last 12 years I have played on a Perantucci PT88+ which is by far the best mouthpiece I have ever used. For 10 of those years I played BBb in a Brass Band. 2 years ago I had to move to EEb (Besson BE982) because of back issues. I tried to move to a smaller mouthpiece but could never get my chops into them, so I continued to use the PT88+. This last week I've decided that I need to get a mouthpiece that is a little smaller than the PT88+ but still not a traditional EEb mouthpiece. A friend of mine recently purchased a Giddings and Webster Diablo mp but that looks quite small.I'm thinking about getting G&W mp tossing up between the TAKU or WILLIWAW models. Any feedback would be great. Is the somewhere is Australia (preferably in Melbourne) that have G&W mp to try. I would hate to spend all that money on a mp and not like it.

Is there a blokepiece mouthpiece that I should look at? If there is what would you suggest

With all due respect, Paul Sidey's stainless steel Helleberg is the mouthpiece I settled on after, seriously, 30 years of searching for the right mouthpiece. The flat, narrow rim makes every note predictable, from the bottom of my range to the top. It's deep enough to give a balance of solid fundamental without compromising the overtones, and the lighter weight of the stainless steel makes it very responsive. With the full throat I know I can "step on the gas" when I need to without cracking.

A few friends have used the imperial on CC tubas with good results, so it may fill that "Eb but not quite Eb" sweet spot you're looking for. Maybe Joe will chime in to prove me wrong, but I think it may have been designed to fill the gap between "bass" and "contrabaß" mouthpieces, or give the British Eb a bit more "bass" in the sound.

According to USPS my mouthpiece is in Melbourne but according to Australia Post the mouthpiece is not in Australia.

Mouthpiece is in Melbourne and should have it before the end of the weekend. Have a gig on Sunday do I jump in and use my new mouthpiece straight away?

My mouthpiece arrived yesterday. My first impressions after 5 minutes of playing. Wow the difference in sound and the comfort of the mouthpiece is great.
