25J Conn

Post by edsel585960 »

I guess we will see what it looks like when it gets here. At least I finally found an upright bell even if it does need some help. http://www.ebay.com/itm/191681440837?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT" target="_blank" target="_blank :D

Looks like a good deal. The only thing that jumped out for me was in the 6th photo, featuring the receiver, the leadpipe seems to have a little ding, just where you almost can't see it in the picture. I'm guessing it's just a flat spot, but if it's any deeper, I'd put it on the list of things that should get fixed for sure. You might even notice a difference afterwards, though I wouldn't bet my life on it.

So after looking at the pic. hrender put up I contacted the seller. He had 2 of them for sale and I put the one he still has listed up. The one I bought the leadpipe is in good shape. He said he would take 650 for the one he has left if anyone wants to shoot him an offer. Thanks guys for the input. Play on!

http://s1029.photobucket.com/user/edsel ... t=3&page=1" target="_blank" Well, the 25 showed up. It is in better shape than the ebay photos showed. Plays great. Finish is better than on my 20J. I'm happy! :D

Originally just bought it for the upright bell. I had a recording bell I was going to slap on it and resell as a 24J but as usual I'm going to keep the whole thing. ( even the wife agreed)

Lee Stofer has a 25J of mine he is doing some custom work to and odds and ends along with getting it silver plated for me... I can't wait to see the end results.

So what did you trade for it? I tossed my 22 j out there as a possible trade but he wanted a 4 valve horn.

Cerveny 601 CC. I don't do enough stuff that calls for a CC anymore and I have lusted after a big Conn for a long time so we worked out a deal we were both happy with.

I have no doubt that with my lack of talent I can make it sound pretty bad :)

I am quite sure we are both going to be happy.

I think Tyler had that 25 up for sale several years back. I remember the photos. If it's the same horn that is a sweet axe. Have fun with it! :tuba:
