I found this interesting mouthpiece in a storage room. It's had a rough life, but pretty interesting. Unfortunately, the shank damage prevented me from playing it very much.

These people seem to have a website, but there's not a lot of information:

Might be fun to make your own mouthpiece interesting in this way, by soldering stuff to the outside. Whatever you have laying around, I guess, but there's a lot of artistic potential here if you have a cheap source for a half pound of hex nuts for example.
Brush off the silver plate first? don't know if silver takes solder well. Of course hot glue or something would be less work, but you have to believe in the efficacy of this extra mass, so you have to decide if the use of hot glue would undermine your faith.

I thought about using a ring mandrel to fix the shank, but I realized it would be better as a projectile. Maybe it could be used to hammer out dents?

That piece has a pretty much straight-through bore, with no throat to speak of. If you're playing a very free-blowing tuba you'll run out of air in about two beats.

You're right about that, I have one of these, bought it cuz it looked interesting, but it's absolutely ridiculous. Like a Holton 52 but probably worse in terms of air efficiency. I don't really see the point of these besides being an eye catcher. Maybe they work well in drum corps? I wouldn't know though :/
