Re: Schiller 5v CC compensating tuba
From all indications from the description and the photo on the Jim Laabs site this is merely a 4 piston with a 5th rotor tuba. Schiller descriptions tend to be a bit, well, not in the usual vernacular of tuba lingo. Some of their 5 valvers are referred to as BBb/A. Not sure what that is suppose to mean. I suppose an experienced player needs to consider the source of the written copy and evaluate the tuba on its own merits. Many of these clones are rather good instruments and appear in various incarnations from other importers with names such as Wessex, Mack, M&M and rather reputable houses such as Dillon. Some such as Wessex proclaim certain proprietary features and enhanced quality control which I believe is actually the case. Usually Jin Bao is the manufacturer, but even that can be uncertain as a variety of factories produce similar clones. I have first hand experience with Mack and Wessex and am impressed with their inventory and their mode of business.

I am aware of the "clone Wars" . My post is specific to the Schiller model. The various incarnnations of the 410 are bigger than I want.

The 410 is good in quintet, though.

IF you have no experience with the above tuba then please don't reply. Thanks.
