I was talking to Al Baer today and he reminded me you can listen to some broadcasts of the New York Phil online. They are archived performances that you can play with Real Player.
I tried to find it a few months ago, and must have gone to the wrong stuff. Here is how to do it:
Go to:
http://newyorkphilharmonic.org/
Hover your mouse pointer over "Attend Concerts" and when the menu appears underneath, click on "Broadcasts"
When the page loads, on the left-hand side is a menu.
Click on "2004-2005 season"
Go to the concert you want to listen to, and click on "Listen Now" the page may reload, and the "Listen Now" will be replaced with "Real Player"
Click on that, and the concert should open up.
Woo hoo!
Right now, you can listen to these concerts:
Dukas: The Sorcerer's Apprentice (listen to the tempo in the trumpet solo! holy toledo!)

Ross Edwards: Oboe Concerto (U.S. Premiere)
Rimsky-Korsakov: Scheherazade (Al kicks butt on this)

R. Strauss: Ein Heldenleben

R. Strauss: Don Juan
R. Strauss: Der Rosenkavalier Suite
Haydn: Symphony No. 95
Wolfgang Rihm: Two Other Movements (World Premiere: New York Philharmonic Commission)
Chausson: Poème
Saint-Saëns: Introduction and Rondo capriccioso
Ravel: Bolero
Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream
Are there any other major symphonies that have this feature on their website?
Thanks,
Charles D. Ortega
