981, 982, 983 with a German style bell?

Has anyone done this on their Eb trying to get a more focused sound?
What worked and what didn't work?
Comments?
Pics?
(not interested in buying a new 984 either...)

I just looked up Besson tubas on the woodwind/brasswind site and couldn't believe they were all over $11,000! a couple were over $12K!
I guess I will be keeping my 981 style Boosey and Hawkes for awhile.
The 983 does have a smaller bell than the 981 and 982 which gives it a more focused sound.

My Norwegian Star Eb has a very focused sound (a lot of 'core').
So that bell would be worth a try if it would fit the Besson...
However, I have no idea on how much of that 'core' is caused by the bell and how much by the rest of the bugle.

The new Wessex Bombino compensated Eb has a more focused tone. I love it's clear sound combined with spot on intonation and now use for most of my outdoor gigs where I think the broader tone of the 19' bell Eb can often get lost in the air.

But isn't that a smaller tuba with limited dynamic range?
I assume the OP is asking for the Ebs answer to the Thor
In fact...the old Imperial could do quite good. Wider throat, smaller bell (Middle one)
