howdy fellow tube netters,
i just saw this horn on the bay and have never seen one like it before. has anyone ever played one? with the plastic trombone/tuba craze I was wondering if anyone would make an inexpensive tuba like this.

Those things were marketed as 'commuter tubas'. Built like a tank, they were produced by Willson and marketed by DEG. The body fit into a small suitcase and was intended to be carried to and from school. They were sold with two bells... one brass for concerts at school... and a plastic (not fiberglass) bell that was left at home for practice.

In my opinion... these horns were not very good players. Good enough I guess for beginning students but not much else.

I have the catalog page in .pdf format. If you want it send me an email.
