Some solid advice if ya ask me. Too much fiddling with equipment distracts from the real mission.

i've been using a 7b on my f for higher stuff. can't imagine getting a powerful sound in the low register on a contrabass with it though. of course,your mileage may vary...

The whole sad truth:

You're the only one with your face (unless you're a product of a multiple birth or a laboratory experiment). Try a few mouthpieces; record yourself playing on them and listen to the playback; invite others to listen and render an opinion.

Then you can make your choice.

I played with the 7B as my main mouthpiece on a 4/4 VMI BBb, and I think I got an ok sound, but MAN was that a lot of work.
