This is my first time on TubeNet and really psyched to check out this community of brass players!

I recently had the opportunity to interview Chuck from the Canadian Brass and got to talk with him about:

-The first gigs the Canadian Brass ever did
-How they played hundreds of concerts in their first few years
-What characteristics they look for when recruiting new members
-What Chuck would do if he were starting his career today

Thank you so much for posting that. So much of what Chuck said hits home with me. I am a member of a brass quintet that for 13 years has played mostly for our own enjoyment but occasionally for a bit of cash. Very valuable stuff here. I also find it heartwarming that I am not the only low brass player in the world that hangs around the house in a shirt with hand mended seams. Never met the guy but he seems really down to earth.

Thanks for a great feedback everyone. Chuck is a heck of a guy and really knows his stuff.

I particularly like what he had to say about always remaining relevant and how they're always on the lookout for ways adapt/leverage new mediums.

I actually did an interview with Andrew Hitz from Boston Brass a few months back. I'll share that one soon. He also has great stuff to say about the business side of things!
